Using Our Address as Your Registered Office
A company’s registered office has to be a physical street address in Australia. A PO box is not accepted, and it does not have to be where you actually work. That is why a virtual business address is one of the most common ways small companies meet the requirement. ASIC sets out the rules on its company addresses page.
The Occupier Has to Consent
If your company does not occupy the premises, you need the occupier’s written consent to use the address, and you must keep a record of it. ASIC asks you to confirm that consent when you lodge the address. Ask us about this when you sign up.
Principal Place of Business Is Separate
ASIC also asks for your principal place of business, the main address you work from. It must be a physical address and it shows on the companies register, so if you work from home, check the right setup with your accountant.
Tell ASIC Within 28 Days
If any company address changes, ASIC must be told within 28 days or a late fee applies. The change is lodged online.
